Athletes who ride a tricycle because of impaired balance and coordination, with more severe impairment than T2.
The T1–T2 classes are for athletes who cannot ride a two-wheeled bicycle safely because of impaired balance and coordination, most often caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy or ataxia. They compete on a tricycle for stability. T1 riders have more severe locomotor and coordination impairment than T2 riders.
